Google celebrates its 12th birthday today, and to mark the occasion a new doodle has been created.

This year, the Doodle is of a birthday cake with a candle replacing the “L”. The Doodle was painted by 89 year old American pop artist Wayne Thiebaud, whose most famous works are of cakes, pastries, boots, toilets, toys and lipsticks. Last year’s doodle was the Google Logo with a duplicate “L” representing 11 (eleven) as can be seen here

Google Doodle’s are becoming quite a regular thing, usually commemorating a particular event or person. To see some of the recent Google Doodles check out: http://www.google.com/logos/.
